A cast-iron boiler older than the owner, with a leak and a failing pump. Repaired in an afternoon, with advice on when to plan for a replacement.
The owner had been told by two companies to rip out the boiler and put in a furnace, which would have meant new ducts through a plaster house.
Cody replaced the circulator pump and a leaking valve, bled the radiators and checked the safety controls. The boiler has years left.
The result
Heat in every room again for a few hundred dollars, and a plain-spoken plan for when to replace it.
“Our house has a 1920s boiler nobody else wants to touch. Cody knew it right away.”
